Book a speaking engagement

I have a passion for bringing complex social and environmental issues into public conversation and engaging with community leaders, students, farmers and the public around food, farming and climate change.

I hold a B.A. in Biology, and an M.S. in Environmental Science Education. I am completing a PhD in Environmental Studies at Antioch University New England where I am using agent-based modeling and interactive games to study climate change adaptation and farmer decision-making.

I served as faculty for the University of Maryland Extension program in Howard county and have developed and taught courses in community education, food systems and policy, and program evaluation for the Maryland University of Integrative Health Master of Science program in Integrative Nutrition.

I am the director of the award-winning documentary series Harvests of Hope, which highlights the innovative ways farmers and communities are adapting to climate change.

I was a fellow for the Docs In Progress program, the American Society of Adaptation Professionals mentorship program, and a two time finalist for the Thomson Reuters Food Sustainability Media Award.

Developed as part of a doctoral research project, Farmington Adapts is a role-playing board game designed to explore how farmers make decisions in response to changing social and environmental conditions, so that community leaders, nonprofits and policymakers can better understand the challenges they face, and engage farmers in the decision-making process to improve adaptation outcomes on local farms.

I would love to come speak with your business or agency,  play the game and facilitate a discussion on serious games and adaptation planning.
